Succeed With Twitter: Four Twitter Principles – Part 3 of 3

part 3

Before I begin, make sure you have read Part 1, and Part 2 of this 3 part series if you haven’t yet. You will need to read those to know what’s going on in this series.

Here it is. The moment you have been waiting for. My four twitter principles. It’s about time, isn’t it?

PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW YOU, DON’T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT YOU.

Don’t get offended; I am just stating the facts. You know it’s true, and if you are an adult who doesn’t understand this concept, move back home with mommy and daddy. They’ll take good care of you. However, since most of my readers have brain cells that function and synapses that fire appropriately, understanding my article shouldn’t be a problem. So, if you feel like farting around on Twitter all day, and waste valuable time with your stupid cookie tweets, go right ahead. I’m not stopping you.

Don’t expect me to give a shit. Well, why not? Quit whining. It’s just because I have no idea who you are, so I don’t really care about how many cookies you can stuff in your mouth at one time. I want to read something compelling. Give me that, and I’ll give you my attention. The more quality I get, the more I’m gonna read your tweets. I might even look forward to it. Tweeters who only talk about the mind-numbing details of their lives are not people that I or anyone else is gonna want to associate with. Get your head right. Get your goals in order and you will know exactly what to tweet, retweet, and the audience you should tweet to.

YOU GOTTA GIVE TO RECEIVE

Why do most people like to give to others? So, that maybe one day people will give something to them. It’s not different on Twitter. There are tons of people who put up links in order to get their name out there, but most people who have good sense do not even bother checking out these links. Why? It’s simple, you know how nobody likes dealing with car salesmen? Nobody likes to deal with shameless, relentless advertisers either.

How do you go about getting promoters? You get promoters by promoting others. That is how you get users to retweet your links, and this is exactly what you want. If you are boring and soulless, Twitter just isn’t going to work for you. Giving is how you start getting the attention you are looking for.

QUALITY COUNTS

There are a lot of major players in the music industry who use Twitter. Do you want them to stand up and take notice? Then you should only have quality ideas to share. This means brushing the cookie crumbs off your face.

KEEP IT FRIENDLY

It’s pretty self-explanatory, but I will explain it anyway. Pushy marketing strategies are out. Attractive marketing strategies are in. Okay, that’s it. I’m done. Huh, wait a minute! Just kidding. Let me say this: you are an independent musician, so do things, come up with good concepts, and make things happen. This is what draws in only the best kind of people. Labels are falling out of power, and people like you are starting to get that power. Take that power, use it right, and nothing will stop you.
