Do Not Let Your Twitter Account Become Suspended
Twitter is the “it” social media network on the internet today. So many people flock to Twitter daily not only because it is a fantastic way to socialize, but also because it is a popular, free form of business marketing. There is only one problem: a lack of understanding of how to properly use Twitter. This is why many accounts are suspended without users knowing why.
Wikipedia describes Twitter a free combination between a social network and a micro-blogging site where people send and receive messages referred to as “tweets.” Users across the world can talk and share with one another by posting messages that are no longer than 140 words. Business also make use of Twitter to get feedback from customers. So, it is no wonder that savvy marketers want to take advantage of Twitter’s power and potential. Marketing through Twitter allows advertisers to reach out to a mass of customers; however, some marketers use Twitter in inappropriate ways, causing their accounts to be terminated. It is obvious that Twitter does not want members who abuse their privileges, so there are several rules to adhere to in order to keep your account open.
First of all, no serial accounts are allowed on Twitter. In other words, you cannot create multiple accounts and get followers on these accounts simultaneously. So, why are marketers even trying to do this? It is a sneaky marketing trick that allows a business to gain followers faster. Most marketers believe that having 2 or 3 Twitter accounts will give a business 2 or 3 times the amount of sales. But, if Twitter discovers you are doing this, expect your account to be suspended for what Twitter calls, “strange activities.”
Also, an account can be terminated for being inactive for 6 consecutive months. Certain inactive accounts are considered by Twitter to be “name squatting.” In some cases, Twitter users will make an account under someone else’s or some other business’s name in order to offer them up for sale to the company the name is registered as. Marketers also do this to keep other people form snapping up that particular user name. If any account such as these are left inactive, they will be deleted by Twitter.
Another point to remember is to not automatically follow or stop following other tweeters within a short time. Marketers are able to do this through automated software available all over the internet. Twitter wants these people’s accounts gone because they consider them to be nothing more than spammers. These types of accounts do not post helpful information or informative tweets. There are other people like this who hardly ever tweet, but have countless followers. Think about it. Why would anybody follow people who never tweet anything useful or anything at all? Twitter.com will remove these accounts as soon as they spot them.
Something else to never do is to copy content across several accounts. For example, some marketers will send the same promotional link in the same tweet across all of their Twitter accounts. They do this to expose as many followers as possible to their site. And, they sometimes post the exact same update on all of their accounts too. This is all for promotion and selling purposes, and it is extremely irritating. This is why Twitter immediately eradicates these accounts; they do not want these people to turn Twitter into a mass spamming machine that nobody will want to use.
As you can see, Twitter is strictly a social network that provides premium quality service to those who wish to have a place to connect around with other people around the clock. Unfortunately, there are just too many people who use Twitter in unacceptable ways. The internet community implores Twitter.com to take a hard line with inappropriate users, so Twitter will continue to be a social network with high standards.
